The Ninja Star Discriminator

Our two-point discriminator is a plastic star containing tips spaced at different intervals; 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 9 and 12 mm apart.  This star can be rotated between the single tip for testing one-point and any of the other spaced tips for testing two-point intervals and between two different two-point intervals with ease.  Any of the two-tipped ends of the larger intervals can be used as the one-point tester without rotating back to the single tip of the star.  The discriminator should be held with the surface displaying the engraved interval numbers visible to the evaluator.  Tips should be cleaned before and after use. When not in use, the star should be stored inside its case to protect the tips.

  • This 3D printed two-point discriminator and case was created using free software by 3D4MD founder, Dr. Julielynn Wong and Jody Mou, a Canadian high school student.

  • The patent pending ninja star two-point discriminator, when placed inside its case, can also be used as a fidget spinner.

  • The case lid and bottom are printed out of EasyFil polylactic acid, a biodegradable plastic that is U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved for food and drink contact. This plastic does not contain hazardous chemical substances and is RoHS certified and REACH compliant.
